Concept (EN)
Eldermoon’s new EP “Vita | Mortem” is named after the Latin “Life and Death” and brings duality as the main theme in its composition, reflected in its melodies and artwork.
Vita | Mortem addresses the duality between the elements that name it, their differences and similarities, telling and questioning death in life, and life in death, as well as the debate of life after death.
It also brings the conflict of human beings’ opposing feelings, emotions, and lifestyles-love and hate, altruism and selfishness, ambition and selflessness, peace and war, philanthropy and individualism.
Based on these points, the songs walk through criticisms such as asymmetric expectations, hypocrisy in the style of the popular saying “do as I say, not as I do,” and appropriations of achievements.
In the track “House Of Hate” which opens the EP, we see a mix of criticism of the culture of hate and the profit it brings, with mythology, paralleling the deities who walked the same path.
In its second half, the lyrical self, who puts himself in the position of a judge, the one responsible for the domain, tries to see a cure, a change in the hateful acts of individuals, but is disappointed to see that in certain cases, the negative nature of it is incapable of being changed.
The narrative is accompanied by riffs and melodies that reflect his longings.
The single “Past Life” addresses the consequences of hatred, frustration and outburst when being confronted with the unfair expectations of the world around you; which as the easy way out, by not understanding how to escape their fate, result in hurting others in every way to relieve their own pain, a “broken mind” that does not understand its own reason.
“I Know Inside You’re Dead” portrays the vision of people who live with empty or “dead” individuals inside, living only beyond themselves, not out of altruism, but to be accepted and admired at any cost, doing and giving up everything that could bring them pleasure and their own personality, to build an image of what they think is superior and an example in society.
However, one day those who really care, see how “dead” and “fake” the one is on the inside, and eventually on the outside.
The lyrics of the song “Ferryman Of Death” puts us in the mind of the “Ferryman of Death”, a fantastical figure who sees life and death as mere passages between the 2 planes, seeing beauty in both. He questions the purposes we find in life and claims that in his view, a death to a life of only pain and suffering is a trivial solution, since it is inevitable and not to be feared.

O novo EP da Eldermoon “Vita | Mortem” é nomeado do latim “Vida e Morte” e traz a dualidade como tema principal em sua composição, refletido em suas melodias e artes.
Vita | Mortem aborda a dualidade entre os elementos que o nomeiam, suas diferenças e semelhanças, contando e questionando a morte na vida, e a vida na morte, assim como o debate da vida após a morte.
Também traz o conflito de sentimentos, emoções e estilos de vida opostos do ser humano amor e ódio, altruísmo e egoísmo, ambição e abnegação, paz e guerra, filantropia e individualismo.
Discorrendo a partir desses pontos, as músicas passeiam por críticas como expectativas assimétricas, hipocrisia ao estilo do dito popular “faça o que eu digo, não o que eu faço”, e apropriações de conquistas.
Na faixa “House Of Hate” que abre o EP, vemos uma mescla de crítica a cultura do ódio e o lucro que essa traz, com mitologia, ao paralelo de divindades que trilhavam o mesmo caminho.
Na sua segunda metade, o eu lírico que se põe na posição de um juiz, o responsável pelo domínio, tenta enxergar uma cura, uma mudança nos atos odiosos dos indivíduos, mas se desaponta ao ver que em certos casos, a natureza negativa do mesmo é incapaz de ser mudada.
A narrativa é acompanhada por riffs e melodias que refletem seus anseios.
O single “Past Life” aborda as consequências do ódio, a frustração e a explosão ao ser confrontado com as expectativas injustas do mundo ao seu redor; que como caminho mais fácil, ao não compreender como fugir de sua sina, resultam em ferir outros de todas as maneiras para aliviar sua própria dor, uma “mente quebrada” que não entende sua própria razão.
“I Know Inside You’re Dead” retrata a visão de pessoas que convivem com indivíduos vazios ou “mortos” por dentro, vivendo somente para além de si, não por altruísmo, mas para serem aceitos e admirados a qualquer custo, fazendo e abdicando de tudo que poderia lhe trazer prazer e personalidade própria, para construir uma imagem do que julga ser superior e exemplo na sociedade.
Porém, um dia os que realmente se importam, veem como o tal é “morto” e “falso” por dentro, e eventualmente por fora.
A letra da música de “Ferryman Of Death” nos coloca na mente do “Barqueiro da Morte”, uma figura fantasiosa que vê a vida e a morte como meras passagens entre os 2 planos, enxergando beleza em ambos. Ele questiona os propósitos que encontramos na vida e clama que em seu ponto de vista, uma morte para uma vida de apenas dor e sofrimento é uma solução trivial, já que a mesma é inevitável e não deve ser temida.
